Where the sidewalk ends....
It ends in Grimes.
Yep, I found the end. So may training (and I use that term lightly) has taken me jogging through the small town of Grimes. After mapping out a couple of routes on the ole computer I took to the streets. As I was slogging along I noticed a path running behind some homes in a newer subdivision. Awesome, I thought, a trail to checkout; my mind filling in the spots I couldn't see from the road.
At my turn around point I decided to take the "trail" back. After scurrying down a incline, and almost falling on my ample rear, I was there, on the car free "trail". Twenty feet later I come to THE END. It just stopped dead at a tilled field, done! Weird as I knew I had clearly seen the "trail" at the other end. After some investigation and some trekking through a muddy field I see the "trail" did start again fifty feet later!
Even better is my bike commute to work, or my escape from Alcatraz, I mean Grimes. There is no 'easy' way to bike out of there without taking some risks. There is hwy 141 to the east (that can be tricky in my car), James street to the west (2 lane, obstructed views, no shoulder, nuff said). I head east to work on hwy 44 (I've been warned about this road). There is a sidewalk....but it ends at the intersection! HA! So I pedal like mad to the 141 underpass, hoping no sun blinded, cell phone talker takes me out. Whew, sidewalk starts (again) on the other side of the underpass. 100 yards later.....it ends.....no I must get back on the road that has now narrowed to 2 lanes. Yea! This goes on for about a mile, before I am in the clear and on a sizeable sidewalk oh and over half way there.
So for all those drivers that say "why can't they be on the trail/sidewalk"? It ended.
