My Microadventure.....

PathLessPedaled - Gold Country from Russ Roca on Vimeo.

Bicycling From Iowa to Mt Rushmore (Rapid City, SD)
Timeframe – 2 weeks(ish)
States to Visit – IA, SD
Miles to Cover – 699.19
Average Miles per Riding Day – 73(give or take 30)
Attractions – Ionia Volcano, Spirit Mound, Gavin’s Point Dam Visitor Center Marty, SD church, Headquarters for the Teton Sioux Nation.

A brief general description of the route:
Iowa -I’ll just work my way northwest, hopefully ending up in places where I know I can crash. You know play it by ear.

South Dakota (Lewis and Clark Trail)- Following part of the Lewis & Clark Bicycle Trail as closely as possible. Not sure yet if I will be taking the northern route through South Dakota via I 90 or the southern back road route.
Check this website (www.lewisandclarktrail.com)

The weather in mid June is sure to be hotish and humid, but can’t be as bad as going South last year. Besides, I enjoy the summer, because the days are long and the ride is leisurely. Personally I am always just hoping for no rain.
Got most of my gear from last years trip. Stilling hoping to get a new bike here soon and possibly a basket and speakers. Plan to shove off from Grimes, IA on June 13th for my first full day of riding.  The video above makes me want to leave today!!!
