October....it's been a ride.

So, hi. And stuff. I know, I’m not here much lately. But it’s been a crazy busy birthday month. There has been football tailgating on the Quad, of course. What and awesome way to tailgate, everything is so spread out you really need wheels to get around and see all your peeps! We have some awesome friends who throw even awsomer (yea, I made that up) tailgate parties. Great ribs from the Corning Crew, dancing and strong drinks with Team Nad, and Quad rides all over Ames!

Then there was a trip to the drive in, yes the drive in.  Gosh I haven’t been there in like forever. The ‘family’ went to celebrate Catt’s birthday. In traditional Quad bike fashion we arrived in Newton fashionably late, well with the drive and the unloading/loading, geez. Actually the gate was closed when we got there so we had to sort of sneak in.  Watched Wall Street 2.0 while sipping on our new staple Jeremiah Weed. The manager came over as we were loading up the bike. Good thing we were late because she wasn’t sure if we were allowed. Catt saved the evening by throwing money at her! Good times.

For my birthday week I got a small crew together for dinner at the Olive Gardens. Love that unlimited salad and breadsticks! Was so incredibly tired on my birthday that we got two bottles of wine the movie Losers and stayed in on the futon. That was nice and much needed, since the next morning we headed to the Quad Cities to get in some miles and fun. Got to ride the Hennepin Canal Trail 30 miles (by my calculations). That was an adventure as the access points kept getting smaller so we had to dismantle and squeeze the bike through a couple of parts.

On Saturday we donned our lederhosen and dirndl’s for Blondtoberfest. Rode up along the Mississippi River stopping (first for tire repairs) then at Bad Boys. There was a fun gathering at a park while we waited for the next bar to open. Then a great time at the Captains Table, til well after the sun went down. I was so surprised they didn’t kick us out or call the cops as our party spilled out in to the parking lot! I will be doing that ride again.

Then there was the super music weekend. Friday, Tim hosted Martin Zeller of the Geardaddies ‘unplugged’.  Great food, great music, great friends to enjoy it with. Saturday we threw on some costume stuff and pedaled the Quad to downtown Ames for WookieFoot what and experience that was. I am a new fan.

So October Birthday Month is coming to a close but not until after the Great Pumpkin Ride! I finally settled on a Where’s Waldo costume for Friday night and we have a super group costume for the Quad Saturday night. This year I have just two goals; make it to Lanesboro and to the Serviceman’s Club! You’d think that wouldn’t be a problem…….
